investment vs debt funding vs research income - which is most appropriate

how does being a spin-out effect the venture.
OptoSwim Technologies Limited.

Issues Optoswim wish to explore include:
-
the company has an unusual problem among start ups, in that it has gained the support of the investment community, as well as generating interest and sales in the market place, and collecting promising initial results from a commercial trial last year, but it is having trouble generating robust test data in the commercial environment, due to a combination of costs involved, the interaction of biology with seasons, and the difficulty of collecting data consistently through the various operations involved in a salmon production environment.
-
whether to establish a product sales model or to establish a service based proposition
-
and how best to explore the manufacturing options and develop trusting relationships.
